Reasons not to vote Labour #34 - redefining "investment"

Gordon Brown's best trick was to talk about "investment" when he actually meant "expenditure". This meant he could talk about "Tory cuts" when he actually was describing the more responsible fiscal approach of the Conservative party.
Any accountant will tell you that an investment is something that brings you returns year after year, and can be sold. Brown's "investments" were actually spending commitments that drained the economy of funds and were often very bad value for money.
His improper rhetoric caused immeasurable damage to the economy, because it made it virtually impossible to discuss the deficit. So for purely political purposes, Brown has driven us at full speed towards the precipice.
