So the usual suspects are getting very excited about a legal opinion from George Bompas QC, which appears to say that IFRS accounts are illegal.
Now, if this were a technical legal opinion arguing that a load of income shouldn't be classified as income for tax purposes, the very same usual suspects would be queuing up to hang the author. So why is this legal opinion, which quite clearly goes against the will of Parliament, feted?
And the very idea that any judge would ever rule that all accounts issued in the UK in the last decade are illegal is - how can I put this delicately? - totally naïve.
