If you don't, you won't find this sign,at the junction of London Wall and Copthall Avenue, much help.
It's pointing the wrong way!

They had run an article on how accountants had been overlooked in the New Year's Honours. Until I pointed out that Gerry Acher, former senior partner at KPMG, had received a knighthood.

From this week's Accountancy Age cartoon:
Look, this is the philosopher who was responsible for the death of God. Don't you think you'd better spell his name correctly?
Nice to see a bit of philosophy in the Age, though. Clearly the new editor is making his mark!

There's a very amusing interchange in the ICAEW LinkedIn group (no URL as it's a private group):
There's more on the history of Economia over at the ICAEW's website.

There's an amusing story in this month's Accountancy magazine.
Congratulations to Anton! Only, erm, he's been chief executive at ICAS since June 2006, so quite why it's taken Accountancy until now to notice this is anyone's guess. I suppose it's possible they intended to report on his appointment as chair of the Global Accounting Alliance and just got confused.
Whatever the reason, this is a humiliating blunder and a huge setback for Accountancy magazine as it seeks to prove itself as relevant to accountants in its penultimate issue as the ICAEW member magazine.

It's clock change time again. Follow these simple rules and you should ensure that you don't lose an hour's sleep in the spring and that you do get a lie-in in the autumn.
Do nothing! Don't touch the clocks until Sunday morning. Your children will wake up as normal, meaning you don't lose an hour of sleep.
On Saturday evening, tell your children in no uncertain terms that they are not to get out of bed until their normal waking up time. Then sneak into your children's bedrooms while they're asleep and change the clocks back. This should guarantee that you get the full benefit of the extra hour as a lie-in.

The corrosive power of advertising and its link to the financial crisis is a major theme in the Courageous State. I’m told it should now be on sale by 14 November. You can get a copy here.
After his commentators take the piss (which, to his credit, he posts), he explains:
I am careful to define the power of the supply of information and to differentiate it from pernicious advertising in the book
