I don't have an iPad. But my server stats show that quite a few of you do.
Because I don't have one, I can't see what this site looks like on the device. Some time ago, I set up a mobile theme that should make it more functional for mobile users.
If there's anything I can do to make this site more accessible to iPad or other mobile readers, please let me know in the comments.

Somewhere along the line in updating WordPress plugins, I managed to screw up image uploading. So, for the last few months, pictures previewed perfectly when writing a post but then didn't show when showing the post 'for real'. As a result, since then I've basically avoided putting pictures into blog posts at all, which seemed like the easiest course of action but made the blog look even more boring than it actually is.
Anyway, I've finally managed to fix it, so pictures should be returning. As soon as I can find any that make sense.
If you find any pictures in old posts that aren't working and I didn't spot, please let me know.

OK, holiday's over. Thank you for letting me have the best part of a month off. Now to catch up on what those crazy regulators have been doing while all good sensible people have been off enjoying themselves.
I've also done some software upgrades on the site, so there's every possibility that things won't work properly. Something else to look forward to!

One of the best bits about running Google Analytics on your website is that it enables you to see what search terms people used to arrive at your site. As a result, I can now offer you, dear reader, a brand new service: You wanted to know.
I will be hand-selecting the best search terms which aren't already answered on this site - yes, there may be one or two - and providing you with the answers.
I bet you can hardly wait. And, don't worry, you won't have to.

I've created a short page that provides some links to help you become a chartered accountant.
You can find it on the right hand menu, or here.

Accountancy Age has published some extracts from the proposals accountants have submitted as their manifesto for a new government. Here is a choice extract:

Eagle-eyed readers may have read it here first.

Hello, and welcome to my blog. Here I will be posting about accountancy, economics, politics and anything else that takes my fancy.
I started this blog because I got fed up with the way Richard Murphy was behaving on his blog. He has some interesting points of view, but he insults his readers every time they try to discuss them with him. Richard isn't always right - in fact he's more often wrong - and I found it frustrating that he wouldn't engage in proper dialogue with his readers. He has now removed all ability to comment from his site.
I pledge that you will always be able to comment on this blog. And I encourage you to disagree with me when I'm wrong.
